Building Student Career Pathways: A Public Health Professional’s Toolkit
The Student Career Pathways Toolkit was created to make it easier for organizations to develop or enhance pathways that guide students into public health careers. It offers resources for preceptors, tools to strengthen current programs, and strategies to help build a more resilient and prepared public health workforce. By exploring the toolkit, organizations can better support student learning, workforce readiness, and opportunities for hands‑on experience in their chosen field.

Community Health Workers (CHWs) are essential members of the healthcare system who help improve health outcomes and serve as the bridge between communities, healthcare system, and resources. They are the heartbeat of community wellness. CHWs connect individuals with vital health resources, provide education, and advocate for healthier lifestyles. AHEC is offering the Community Health Worker (CHW) Level 1 Certification for individuals interested in beginning this impactful career pathway. NIHAN CNA Apprenticeship
The Nevada Interprofessional Healthy Aging Network (NIHAN), in collaboration with UNLV, is a statewide initiative focused on improving the health and quality of life of older adults in Nevada. The program brings together healthcare professionals, educators, and community partners to strengthen the state’s capacity to deliver high‑quality geriatric care. Its primary goal is to prepare a workforce that understands the unique medical, social, and cognitive needs of aging populations and can provide care that is evidence‑based, person‑centered, and supportive of both older adults and their families.


Supervisor on Demand — Nevada’s Clinical Supervision Connection
The University of Nevada, Reno’s Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies (CASAT), an independent center housed within the School of Public Health, developed Supervisor on Demand to help connect behavioral health interns with qualified clinical supervisors. This free online tool links Nevada’s interns with qualified clinical supervisors who are ready to guide them through their clinical journey.
