About DPBH
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH) works to protect and improve the health and well‑being of communities across Nevada. Our teams support a wide range of efforts, from public health and behavioral health services to prevention, data systems, and community partnerships, all aimed at helping individuals and families thrive. For students and emerging professionals, DPBH offers meaningful opportunities to contribute to work that strengthens Nevada’s health system and supports healthier futures.
Mission: to protect, promote, and improve the physical and behavioral health and safety of all people in Nevada, equitably and regardless of circumstances, so they can live their safest, longest, healthiest, and happiest life.
Vision: Preventable health and safety issues no longer impact the opportunity for all people to live in the best possible health.
Purpose: To make everyone’s life healthier, happier, longer, and safer.
Funding Stream
Our scholarship is funded through the The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Nevada Health Workforce Pipeline Grant (NHWPG), which supports initiatives to strengthen Nevada’s health workforce. These funds are designated to reduce financial barriers, enhance training pathways, and promote diversity in fields like primary care, public health, and behavioral health. By investing in future professionals, this grant helps improve access to care and the overall health of our communities.
