Salary
- $50,000 – $80,000/year
- $70,000- $75,000/year in major cities- Las Vegas, Henderson, Reno
Education
- 14 health sciences credits to apply for exam. Of the 14 courses, 8 will need to come from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Clinical practice hours – 3 pathways
- Board certification exam
- 95 hours of lactation education, 5 hrs on communication skills
- Requirements

- The Nevada Lactation Scholarship Program is collaborating with the University of Las Vegas, Nevada, the Southern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition, and Northern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition to increase lactation support by providing scholarships to students interested in professions as International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants, mid-level lactation counselors, and peer support lactation individuals.

- IBCLC Training. For those who want to earn the highest credential in the lactation profession, LER provides lactation education, access to health science courses, clinical hours, and exam prep, all in one convenient place, with expert support all the way through.
- Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) Training. LER’s entry-level certification prepares your staff to provide skilled support through initiation and the normal course of lactation. Training hours can also count toward IBCLC certification.
- Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies course. Instructor Malaika Ludman, MPH, CLC, spent several years managing a community-based preparedness program in New Orleans, LA (USA) which provides information and tools to support pregnant and postpartum people and their families. Taught from deep personal experience, her course provides foundational information essential for every member of the emergency response team.
