A Public Information Officer (PIO) in The Department of Health and Human Services in the state of Nevada plays a crucial role in managing and disseminating information to the public, media, and various stakeholders. Salary Range


$58,000 – $83,000/ year

Required Experience


  • A minimum education with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, public or community relations, communications or closely related field. Duration: ~4 years 
  • To qualify as a Public Officer I, two years of professional experience in public relations or public information which includes writing media releases and newsletters, preparing speeches and multimedia presentations.
  • To advance to a Public Officer II, three years of professional experience in administering or directing a public information program which includes writing media releases and newsletters, preparing and presenting speeches and multimedia presentations, independent media contact, development of public relations strategies and journalistic writing.
