A Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) Supervisor oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of community-based prevention programs aimed at reducing substance misuse, violence, and other behavioral health challenges. This role involves guiding a team of prevention specialists, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices, and fostering partnerships with schools, coalitions, and local organizations. CPS Supervisors demonstrate leadership, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills, while maintaining a deep understanding of public health principles and cultural responsiveness. By coordinating outreach efforts and mentoring staff, they help shape healthier communities and support long-term wellness across diverse populations.
Salary Range
- $58,000 – $99,000/ year
Education & Timeframe

- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Childhood Education, Criminal Justice or related field Duration: ~2 years (if transferring credits from associate’s degree) ~4 years (without associate’s degree)
- Advance Your Expertise: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Criminal Justice, or related field Duration: ~2 years
- May obtain Licensure and Certification depending on your chosen field, to enhance your qualifications and expand career options.
- Engage in internships or work experience with behavioral health agencies, school-based prevention programs, or community coalitions. Supervisory roles often require several years of hands-on experience in prevention, outreach, and team coordination.

- The Nevada Health Equity & Loan Assistance (HEAL) Program was launched by the Nevada Treasury in 2025 to reward healthcare providers who choose to practice in Nevada.
