Internships

The DPBH Public Service Internship Program is designed for students seeking hands-on experience within the Division of Public and Behavioral Health. Selected candidates will be mentored by dedicated employees who are passionate about their work and committed to strengthening the agency. Through this program, students gain valuable exposure to the government sector, explore diverse areas of public health, and contribute to meaningful projects at the state level. The internship helps prepare students for the workforce by building practical skills and professional confidence.

  • Why you believe you would be a good fit for the program
  • Why you are interested in this specific opportunity

Food Security CDPHP Internship

Join the Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Section and play a key role in statewide efforts to address food insecurity. As an intern, you’ll contribute to two important studies tied to recent legislation (AB405 and SB233), gaining hands‑on experience in research and writing. Through this work, you’ll help strengthen Nevada’s food security systems, policies, and programs—while seeing firsthand how public health and policy come together to create meaningful change.

Health Data & Reporting – Undergraduate Internship

Gain hands‑on experience in public health research and data analysis while contributing to statewide prevention efforts. As part of this project, interns will help prepare reports for the Committee to Review Suicide Fatalities (CRSF), including comparisons of suicide trends across Northern and Southern Nevada, and support the review of Psychological Autopsy Assessments.

Behavioral Health Certifications – Graduate Internship

Internship experience focuses around developing a data system to support BHCEN-certified behavioral health providers. Interns will gain experience in data analysis, quality improvement, and performance evaluation while collaborating with the quality assurance team to enhance provider outcomes.

Public Health Video Production Intern

Are you passionate about using the power of video to make a difference? Join our team as a Video Production Intern and be part of our exciting project, “Visualizing Public Health.” As a Video Production Intern, you will work alongside our Education and Information Officer to create engaging video content aimed at promoting public health initiatives and resources in our community.
