Required Experience


  • To qualify as a Community Health Nurse I, a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and one year of professional nursing experience are required.
  • To qualify as a Community Health Nurse II, a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and two years of professional nursing experience are required, one year of which must be in a public health setting.
  • To qualify as a Community Health Nurse III, a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse, a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and two years of professional nursing experience in a public health setting are required, one year of which must include supervisory/management nursing experience.
  • To advance to a Community Health Nurse IV, a current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), including an active prescribing designation, with certification in women’s health or family practice, is required.
