As a Mental Health Technician with the Department of Human Services in the state of Nevada, this vital role involves working closely with mental health professionals to provide care and support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Salary Range


  • $35,000 – $55,000/ year

Required Experience


  • Minimum education required is a high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • To become a Mental Health Technician I, one year of experience involving public contact is required, which may include providing care or guidance for children, elders, or others; volunteer work providing respite to caregivers; or leading youth groups.
  • To qualify as a Mental Health Technician II or III, two years of experience are required, with at least one year in a paraprofessional role in a hospital, institutional, residential, clinic, or community setting, providing care, treatment, training, and supervision for individuals with mental illness or emotional disturbances. Additionally, applicants must have completed the necessary coursework while working toward certification in accordance with statute and regulation.
  • To advance to a Mental Health Technician IV, four years of experience are required, along with valid mental health certification attained and maintained pursuant to NRS 433.279.
